Inspirational Snippet #21 – Better Days Ahead

Trouble does not last forever. Your skies will not always be grey.
You can’t always tell the future by what you see today. Today’s circumstances may not be good indicators of the possibilities of the future.
Don’t let fear destroy your destiny. Don’t be afraid to fail so much that you get stuck in today’s circumstances. Venture out. Don’t be afraid of the loud threats, the thundering announcements of more dread ahead, the shocking unexpected flashes of lightening that destabilises your peace. Above all, don’t give up hope.
Don’t give up trying again. There are better days ahead, if you don’t quit on life, if you refuse to believe that change will never come. Soon the thundering quietens down.
Look up, there will soon be a rainbow in your sky. Wait for your rainbow sky. Keep looking up. Keep moving forward. Change is coming.

Inspirational Snippet #20 – Kindness

There are declarations of love, words spoken, words whispered, words in a promise, words in a beautiful card, whether from a man to a woman, a woman to a man, a parent to a child, words between friends that sound so perfect, so thrilling, so emotionally satisfying because they centre around love and how valuable and precious the people in a relationship are to one another.

When it comes to practically backing up those beautiful words, many are found wanting. It is amazing how the greatest portrayals of love cannot be fully captured in words, or on any card.

They are seen through actions taken on behalf of others. They are seen by what we physically do for others, especially others more disadvantaged or more vulnerable than we are. Others who may never be able to pay us back. Greater love than this has no one, that a man, a woman, a boy, a girl will lay down their life for another.

Kindness shown through sacrifice often undeserved – that is the true measure of love, not just words, not even words spoken so passionately and powerfully.

Smiling does not cost a dime. It is a valid announcement that yesterday has not left you defeated.

You are in control of the day if you set its agenda and make it give you what you want out of it. The day is in control of itself and of you if you let the disappointments and hardships of yesterday continue to weigh heavily on your mind so that it distorts your organising processes through the lethargy, worry, stress, anxiety and hopelessness it leaves in its wake.

Today is a brand new day. It can give to you what yesterday never did and it can be a leverage for a better tomorrow. Time and tide waits for no one. Every minute that passes is a loss you cannot recoup after the fact so live fully in each minute of this day. Smile at the day, it will smile back at you. That’s just the way it is.

Does practice really make perfect? Well, it is a fact that, without practice, you will be no where near perfection. If you repeatedly practice a wrong move, you will simply become well versed in your mistake and will definitely not get better. Practice doesn’t immediately make you perfect either. It makes you better and better and takes you closer to perfection if what you are practicing is right in the first place. The kind of Practice that definitely makes you incrementally better is one you should not give up on. Ask anyone who is a dominant figure in their area of influence. They start practicing early and finish late. They do not take long habitual breaks no matter how good they get. They know they can only get better than the rest as long as they keep their practice regular, consistent and persistent. Some started rigorous practice when they were little children and have kept it up for years. Aiming for perfection gives you the focus, the drive and the passion to not give up practising until your good becomes better and your better best, and your best approaches perfection. Keep going. You are nearer than you were yesterday.

How do we get rid of negative thoughts? By purposefully focusing and reflecting on positive, empowering thoughts until our minds are so made up that negative thought simply no longer have any power to dominate our thinking. They simply flutter by almost as soon as they arrive like birds without a home. We see them fly away with very little effort from us.

Inspirational Snippet #12 – Diligence

If you have ever seen a potter at work, you will know that the lump of clay he starts to work with, looks nothing like the beautiful vase which is the end product. Why does he not toss the lump of clay aside as useless, dirty and formless? It is because he has prior experience of what that lump of clay can end up becoming if he keeps at it. I even hear that some very creative people start out not very sure of what they are making but end up with something beautiful because they don’t give up on the process even if the product isn’t looking too good to bystanders. Their finished products adorn palaces and the homes of great, wealthy and important people. For their meticulous work, their names on any product commands a high price even if it doesn’t look that good to the ordinary person. They have shown diligence at the very beginning and have made a name as first class artists. They were not in a rush to finish their masterpieces. They gave it all they had. This is called diligence. Have you seen a man or a woman who is diligent in their work? Keep an eye an such a person. He or she will come before great people. The quality of their work will bring them forward. Keep giving your best no matter how little difference you think you may be making. The ultimate difference in time will be clear for all to see. Diligence is key in any endeavour. Keep at it. Your creativity will soon burst forth. Even mistakes can end up as a new trend if only you will be diligent and not give up too soon.
