Who can hold on to it?
Those who don’t have it
They want it
Those who have it:-
Some give it away
Some hold on so tight
When all is said and done
Both are the same
Power cannot be owned
It is always on a lease
No matter what, that lease expires
While you have it
You can share it and enjoy it
Or you can hoard it and let it destroy you
Power in whatever form or shape
Is a master often disguised as a servant
How you treat it determines your end
Power is borrowed
It never really is yours
No matter how heady it feels
And if you forget that
You will expire
Before your time.

Pour Me Some Love

Pour Me some love

I wanna be giddy with it
Till I feel alive
You know I’m stuck on you
Revive my glory days
I wanna bloom
Beyond this gloom

My roots go a mile
In search of water
My thirst runs deep
My many fingered roots
Burrow here, there and everywhere

Searching, searching…
Water, just a drop please
You know how I like it
You know how I need you

I’m all fenced in
Can’t go nowhere
I’m rooted here
It’s dark, it’s dry, it’s killing
This living ain’t working

Revive me
Touch me
If you are there
If you can hear
Reach out….

Water my soul
Pour Me some love
Starve my quest
Quench this thirst

Water, water
Love, sweet love
Pour Me some love

Salty tangy taste
Surprising my tongue
As it hit my mouth
Unannounced invasion
Tear drops like rain drops
Running down my face
A cascading waterfall
Released from the reservoir
Of my hitherto dry eyes
Propelled by the force
Of emotions so overwhelming
Now flooding my mouth

My head is still spinning
By the bluntness of the blow
The assault to my senses
Making me dizzy
Intoxicated with exhilaration
At the dawn of realisation
That you finally said the words
Words I thought I’d never hear
No, worse, words I thought I’d never believe
And now you’ve rocked my world
And I’m reeling
More shocked me
Not by the sound of the words
But by my heart’s reaction
I am reeling from the shock
That after all these years
Those words falling from your lips
Make sense to my old veteran heart

I can’t deny it
The evidence is crystal clear
It’s running down my face
A cascading waterfall
My makeup all ruined
With tears of joy
Tears now crystallising on my face
An unforgettable picture of lost decorum
I, one so prim and proper
Reduced to mush
As the sound of your words reverberates
Echoing on in my mind
Filling up my heart
With a peculiar kind of warmth
I cling on shamelessly
To the timbre of your voice
Taking up residence in my head
Those funny lovely dangerous silly three words
Crystallising in my heart

Just A Clown To You

……….For all relationships that have gone haywire, for all in them who have lost hope, just remember you are known and valued by the one who gave you life, you matter to one who sees you not as a clown.

It’s not that I have nothing to say
Don’t think I have pitted out
There is still a lot to me
But I have spent the best years of mine
Invested solely in you
I can’t turn back the clock
It won’t stop even if I cry

I guess it’s funny from where you are standing
I guess it looks like a joke to you
This figure of a lost shell you now see
A shadow of what you once esteemed

I will be smiling too if it wasn’t so desperate
I will be patient if I had the time
I would answer all of your questions
With no fear of repercussions
And pretend I have nothing to loose

But I have no more years to waste in arguments
I am now overly invested in you
Since I don’t want it all to be in vain
I will act dump for my own sake

So I will pretend this is all there is to me
I will be your clown
The butt of your jokes
I will make you king
I will laugh at your jokes
Even if the joke is on me
If it will speed up my redemption
Then yes my King, I am your clown

So laugh with me, oh laugh at me
Let’s pretend I am unaware
It matters not, You’ll hear no retorts
I will dance to your tune
I will skip and hop
An amusement to behold
Even more so to myself

I will be your clown
The butt of your jokes
I will make you Queen
I will keep on taking
Every little crumb you throw my way
No point walking away
My best years are gone
My heart is cold
My brain I’ll numb
Yet another day
I will play the part
I’ll be your clown
Your personal clown

Promise Keepers, Promise Breakers

Too many promises
Too few promise keepers
Thoughts of the future
Should brighten up one’s world
Knowing tomorrow promises
To be better than today
This keeps you moving forward
No matter how deep the pain
Re – emerging, Re- branding
Both your dreams and yourself
But never ever forgetting
The faithful promises you’ve made
To another human soul
Just as desperate as yours

While you’re hoping your train comes in
And the tide finally turns in your favour
Remember, this is not just about you
Tomorrow’s promises for each one of a pair
Are jointly borne by that pair
Unless they consider each other with love
All Promises made will remain a dream
You are shackled to a forever pledge
Limiting your ability to help yourself
Unlike others, you are not free to roam
To employ smart tactics to win the day
If a true promise keeper you want to be
Then work at it without reprieve

True Promise keepers are very rare
Faithful ones who stand by you
No matter what the forecast is
Who will give you what is due to you
With humility and kind graciousness too
Being mindful your needs do count
They remember their promises so sweetly made
When hope and dreams were still so fresh
As desperate times now approach
They remain faithful no matter what
They remember their sacred vows made to you

To have and to hold
To love and to Cherish
In sickness and in Health
For better or for Worse
Till death do us part

But for most who look around them now
Broken dreams undisgused abound
Promise breakers not a few
Who said sweet words they could not keep
So to those yet to lock themselves in
Shackled for life to a promise breaker
Be careful who you partner with
Not all talkers are true keepers
Promise breakers will dash your dreams
Right at your feet with no regrets
Leaving you to pick up the pieces
And start again if only you can
